Reality TV Star and Companion Arrested for Drug Possession at Tennessee Safari Park
On Monday, Crockett County deputies arrested Amy Slaton Halterman, a star of TLC’s “1,000-Lb Sisters,” and Brian Lovvorn at the Tennessee Safari Park in Alamo after discovering illegal drugs in their vehicle.
The Crockett County Sheriff’s Department reported that deputies were called to the Safari Park following an incident where Halterman was allegedly bitten by a camel. Upon arrival, deputies detected suspicious odors emanating from the vehicle.
A subsequent search led to the arrest of Halterman and Lovvorn. Halterman faces charges of illegal possession of Schedule I and Schedule VI substances, along with two counts of child endangerment for children under 8 years old. Lovvorn faces similar charges.
The sheriff’s department confirmed that the children present in the vehicle are now with family members while the Department of Human Services (DHS) conducts an investigation. Public Information Officer Stephen Sutton expressed concern over the presence of illegal drugs and the safety of the children involved.
Both individuals were booked into the Crockett County Jail but were released on Tuesday after posting a $10,000 bond. Halterman briefly spoke to a WREG reporter, thanking her fans for their support and mentioning her camel bite injury, which she claimed required hospital treatment.
However, Claude Conley, co-owner of the Safari Park, disputed Halterman’s account, stating that the injury did not appear consistent with a camel bite. Conley also noted that park visitors must adhere to safety rules, including staying in their vehicles and not feeding animals by hand.
As the investigation continues, Conley mentioned receiving numerous inquiries from national media outlets about the incident.
