The Union University baseball team took a conference series from the No. 17 University of West Florida, winning two of three games at home this weekend. Union lost the first game of the series Friday 16-0. The Bulldogs turned around Saturday and swept a doubleheader, 9-8 and 3-1. Union improved to 7-7 overall on the year and 3-3 in the Gulf South Conference. West Florida moved to 8-4 on this year’s campaign and 1-2 in the GSC.

 
The last time Union took a series from the Argos was in 2017, also at home.
 
In the first game of the series on Friday, Union only recorded three hits, and sophomore Carson Chavies led the team going 2-for-3.
 
In the second game, Tanner Parmely led the Bulldogs going 4-for-4 with two RBI. Grayson Swanson also had a multi-hit performance going 2-for-5 with two RBI, and Britt Netterville hit his first home run of the season. Sam Pointdexter had another dominant performance on the mound throwing five and two-thirds innings giving up only two earned runs on five hits with four strikeouts. Ryan Middleton (1-1) earned his first win of the season throwing two and two-thirds innings allowing one hit and earning one strikeout. Jack Rasmussen (2) earned the save by throwing one inning and striking out two.
 
In the third game, Union scored three runs on only one hit which came from Chavies. Union scored two unearned runs in the fourth inning. Lane Evans (2-1) recorded his second win of the season throwing five innings allowing one run on only three hits striking out four. Rasmussen earned his second save of the season tossing two innings allowing one hit striking out one.
 
Up next for Union is a non-conference single-game matchup as they take on the Wonderboys of Arkansas Tech at home. This game is set to take place Tuesday, Feb 28 at 3:00 p.m.
