Union University’s Tylandrius Parks has been named the men’s basketball Division II Player of the Week by the D2CIDA. The senior guard from Pacahontas, Tenn., averaged a double-double in two conference wins for the Bulldogs with 23 points and 12.5 rebounds per game while shooting 52 percent from the field.

This is the second national player of the week honor for men’s basketball since re-joining D2 in 2012-13. This award also follows Parks’ Gulf South Conference and Tennessee Sports Writers Association Player of the Week honors earlier this week.

He scored 26 points with seven rebounds and six assists in a 77-64 win over Montevallo, then came just shy of a triple-double with 20 points, 18 rebounds and nine assists in an overtime win against Auburn Montgomery. The 18 rebounds is the most in a single game in the Gulf South Conference so far this season. Parks averaged 7.5 assists per game on the week, adding a pair of steals and a block.

He leads the GSC in scoring at 20.5 ppg and is fourth in rebounding and eighth in assists. He is also second in the league in three-point field goal percentage.

Union is currently atop the GSC standing with a 7-1 league record and have won five in a row.

The Bulldogs will return to action December 31 with a road game at West Georgia.
