VIP Jackson Magazine gets New, Local Owners

Local couple doubles size of publishing company with acquisition of VIP Jackson Magazine and VIP Pickwick Lake

JACKSON, TENNESSEE (December 7, 2022) —  VIP Jackson Magazine, a social and lifestyle publication, has been acquired by local publisher, Greg Alexander and wife, Allycin. Also included in the acquisition was VIP Pickwick Lake.

Alexander stated, “The timing was right to add these publications to our portfolio. These titles will be a great complement to our other VIP brand magazines and Allycin and I are extremely excited about this growth.” The former publishers, Dabora, Inc., are from Middle Tennessee and are looking to expand in a different direction and wanted to free up time from the Jackson location. “A social and lifestyle publication like VIP Jackson works best when the owner is local and is immersed in the community – making this a perfect fit,” Alexander continued.

The Alexanders have owned VIP Destin Magazine since 2013 and VIP Pensacola since 2015. They live in Jackson, Tennessee, but have offices and employees on the Gulf Coast. The acquisition is additionally exciting as 2023 marks the 20th year for VIP Jackson. Alexander will act as local publisher and notes that while the existing staff will remain in place, some exciting additions and “tweaks” are in store for the publication. Readers will see these new features beginning in the February 2023 issue. “VIP Jackson has been a great source of capturing the social, business, and community events in the Greater Jackson Area for almost 20 years. We certainly will not be changing what we do at VIP, but we will be putting a fresh coat of paint on the publications, adding more digital elements, new features, and creating some proprietary events and celebrations surrounding the magazines. We believe print media is craved and that desire is strong; creatively partnered with a digital presence, it is a vital part of the fabric of our community,” Alexander commented.  VIP Jackson has been the number one resource for local businesses to promote their brand and get their message out to the community through advertising.

About VIP Jackson Magazine and VIP Pickwick Lake

The magazine was founded in 2003 by lifelong Jackson resident Jeff Watson. Watson and his brother, Jason, cultivated the publication through curated event coverage, community happenings, and business events to become the most valued resource for advertisers in the area. Watson sold the publications in 2016, remaining on as the face of the magazine until relocating to Florida. Readers all over West Tennessee anticipate each new issue of the magazines. Watson’s creation in Jackson has inspired more than a dozen other VIP branded publications in other cities across the South. VIP Jackson Magazine publishes 10 times per year and has readership estimated at over 40,000 per issue. VIP Pickwick Lake publishes 5 times per year. Both oversized, glossy publications are free and are distributed through racks at businesses in the Jackson and Pickwick areas.
